Meta Ad Specs: Updated August 2022

You may have noticed Instagram’s recent test to switch to a full-screen, all-video format, which was quickly reversed following backlash from some of its most-followed influencers on the app. The same day, head of Instagram Adam Mosseri also released via Twitter other changes coming to Reels.

Despite the back-and-forth, advertisers are doing everything we can to stay up-to-date on what size our ads should be. 4:5? 1:1? 9:16? Somewhere in between? Video only? Image only? 7-second videos? 60-second videos?

HELP.

Suggested Sizes from Meta for Ad Creative (Updated August 2022)

  • Instagram Feed: 1:1 (1080x1080)

  • Facebook Feed: Ranging from 1.91:1 to 1:1

  • Instagram & Facebook Stories/Reels: 9:16 (Consider leaving roughly 14% (250 pixels) of the top and bottom of the creative free from text and logos to avoid covering these key elements with the call-to-action.)

  • Reels Overlay: 1:1

  • Instagram Explore: 9:16

  • Messenger Inbox: 1:1
